Description
Church Santa María de Xaviña is in Camariñas, La Coruña, Galicia, Spain. Built in the middle of the 12th century, it underwent important later modifications. The facade and the bell tower are from the first third of the 20th century.
Built with granite blocks, the plant is a single nave with a barrel vault, asymmetrical, being narrower in the area of the altar. It has Romanesque capitals with vegetal and figurative decoration. It has a side sacristy with a belfry belonging to another construction. The facade is smooth with a window over the door and a bell tower with two bays at the foot, which is accessed by stairs. It has two cattails that make it a unique reference of religious architecture in Galicia. (Description from camarinas.net)
